In this role, you’ll recruit, welcome, and support volunteers for a variety of JA programs—including in‑classroom lessons, JA in a Day events, Experiential Learning Center (ELC) rotations, and student-focused activities. You’ll collaborate closely with the Senior Program Manager and Program Team while building strong relationships with community partners, educators, and corporate groups.

What You’ll Do

Volunteer Recruitment & Outreach

  • Connect with new volunteers for classroom programs, JA in a Day events, ELC rotations, and student activities.

  • Reach out to companies, civic groups, universities, and community organizations to grow our volunteer base.

  • Represent JA at community fairs, networking events, and corporate volunteer days.

  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective volunteers through targeted outreach.

Relationship Building

  • Strengthen relationships with current volunteers to encourage ongoing engagement.

  • Keep volunteers informed about upcoming opportunities, expectations, and preparation needs.

  • Support corporate partners by helping coordinate presentations, volunteer drives, and group trainings.

Volunteer Onboarding & Support

  • Guide volunteers through onboarding, training modules, and background check steps.

  • Match volunteers to opportunities based on their interests, availability, and experience.

  • Ensure volunteers feel confident, supported, and ready before stepping into a classroom or ELC.

Program Coordination

  • Partner with the Senior Program Manager to fill volunteer needs for scheduled programs.

  • Track volunteer commitments and confirmations to ensure accurate staffing.

  • Assist with day‑of support for large volunteer events such as JA in a Day or ELC rotations.

Data & Reporting

  • Keep volunteer records, contact information, and activity logs up to date in JA systems.

  • Prepare periodic updates on recruitment progress and trends.

  • Share insights to help strengthen recruitment strategies and volunteer engagement.

  • Professionalism when working with corporate and community partners.

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and online communication tools.

Preferred

  • Experience in volunteer management, community engagement, recruitment, or nonprofit work.

  • Organized and detail‑oriented.

  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and aligned with JA’s mission.

  • Passionate about helping young people succeed.

Work Schedule

  • Some daytime travel to schools, corporate sites, and community events.

  • Occasional early morning or evening commitments for volunteer meetings or events.
